Visitors Policy, effective Aug. 12, 2021

With the recent surge in COVID-19 cases locally, we continue to monitor our visitation policy. Beginning Thursday, Aug. 12, we will make the following change:

Only two visitors per patient per inpatient stay or outpatient visit. These two visitors must remain the same and not rotate.

All individuals are required to properly wear a mask at all times while in our facilities. All visitors must successfully complete a viral screening prior to admittance.

Inpatient Care

• When a patient is admitted, two people may be designated as the visitors for the entire stay. You may not rotate guests. Visitors may stay 24/7.
• No children under age 12, unless they are a patient.
• Masks must be worn by visitors and caregivers even when in the patient room.
• Mother/Baby may have two guests. Guests may include the spouse, father of the baby, partner/significant other, parents, grandparents and in-laws. Siblings are welcome. If desired, a professional photographer may also be present. However, the photographer must provide proof of vaccination (CDC COVID-19 vaccine card) to the nursing staff prior to admission.
• Pediatric patients may have two visitors, but only one person at a time. Siblings are allowed.
• End-of-life care or other serious situations will be given special consideration.
• Visitors will be issued a pass, which must be worn at all times while in the Medical Center. Passes may be obtained at Lexington Avenue entrance or Parkview Patient Tower 1 and 2 as follows:
  • Lexington Avenue – 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Parkview Patient Tower 1 – 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday
  • Parkview Patient Tower 2 – Anytime, 24/7

Emergency Department

• The patient may be escorted to registration/triage by one person.
• Once checked in, if the patient’s symptoms are high risk for COVID-19 or if the patient has had a high-risk exposure, the patient escort will return to their vehicle to wait further information. Please ensure the patient escort has a cell phone to receive communications from the emergency staff.
• If a patient presents with an illness or injury that is determined to be at low-risk for COVID-19, one visitor will be permitted in the treatment area. Patient escorts/visitors will not be allowed in the waiting room.
• Exceptions may be made for pediatric patients and those with cognitive or physical limitations on a case-by-case basis.
• Once the care plan is established (ED treatment, admission, discharge), additional instructions will be given to the patient escort depending on the treatment plan.

Other outpatient areas including diagnostic testing, outpatient/same day surgery, provider offices:

• All individuals are required to properly wear a mask at all times while in our facilities.
• All visitors must successfully complete a viral screening prior to admittance.
• Two people may accompany the patient.
• Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
