The Boyd County Farmers Market returns to the King's Daughters campus in downtown Ashland Thursday, June 7, beginning at 2 p.m. For the first market of the year, we expect to see asparagus, lettuce, strawberries, green onions and more.
The market will be open from 2 p.m. until sell-out, which is usually around 5 p.m. With a selection of fresh fruit, vegetables and other locally grown merchandise, the Farmers Market is a great place to pick up healthy foods. Vendors accept cash and cards.
The large white tent where the market usually takes place suffered damage during a recent storm and is being replaced. However, the first few markets will see local farmers using their own, smaller tents. The location along Central Avenue between 24th and 25th streets remains the same.
The market will run from June through October. A second Boyd County market also takes place Saturday mornings at KYOVA Mall. To learn more about becoming a part of the Farmers Market, contact the Boyd County Extension office at (606) 739-5184.
