Free hernia screening is July 18 in Portsmouth
King’s Daughters Medical Center Ohio general surgeon Adam Martin, M.D., will be performing free hernia screenings beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 18 at the hospital.
A hernia occurs when an organ (or part of an organ, such as the intestine), makes its way through the connective tissue, muscle or wall of a cavity. Hernias affect men more often than women: It’s estimated that one in four men and one in 50 women will require surgery for an incisional hernia at some point in their lifetimes.
Appointments are required and may be made by calling 1-888-377-KDMC (5362). After normal hours, please leave your name, daytime phone number where you can be reached, and the name/location of the screening you’re calling about. A member of our team will call back with an appointment.
The hernia screening consists of a review of the participant’s medical history, signs and symptoms, and a brief exam of the affected area as identified by the patient. Recommendations for follow up will be provided.
The screening will take place in Suite 200 of the hospital, 2001 Scioto Trail, Portsmouth.
