Our commitment to buy local is a proud choice we make to source many of the goods and services KDMC utilizes through local businesses. As we all know, locally owned businesses are often the backbone of a strong, healthy community and we want to thank you for your continued support of our “Keep It Local” movement.
The local vendor of the week is Austin’s Ice Cream. Honored to be included in this campaign, Austin’s Ice Cream provided the following information about the company:
Austin’s was founded in 1947 by Mr. & Mrs. Austin. Joyce Snyder bought the business in 1983 with a total of 13 flavors on the menu. Today we have over 40 flavors. Our main store is located at 1103 C street Ceredo West Virginia with a second location to come in Huntington West Virginia at The Market 809 3rd Ave. Pumpkin cheesecake, Oreo Cheesecake, Lemon Berry, Grandmas Apple Pie, ‘Merica Cheesecake, Cake Batter Fudge, Cotton Candy were added to the menu a couple of years ago.
Austin’s began wholesaling ice cream in 1/2 pint cups in 2016. KDMC was our first customer and has been a valuable partner as we have grown this piece of the business. We now have eight customers that sell our ice cream: Grindstone Coffeeolgy, Dreamland Pool, Java Joes, several local baseball field concession stands, and Backyard Pizza features our ice cream in their dessert. Paradise Donuts in Barboursville and Milton is next in line to sell our ice cream. Our goal is to reach as many people with our world famous ice cream without compromising our product. We are so very thankful for our partnership with KDMC and all of our customers.
