“Our three scholarships have been in place for many years,” said Leslee McLeod, Health Foundation director. “Ed Monk, founder of the Edna and Mildred Monk Memorial Nursing Scholarship, did increase the recipients in 2015 from three to four students, which does not go unnoticed. This nursing scholarship will now be able to help an additional student during their nursing career. We thank Mr. Monk for his generosity.”

McLeod said many accomplished students submitted applications this year for the scholarships. “It’s always very tough for our judges to determine scholarship recipients,” she said. “Our region has been blessed with intelligent, talented and community-minded youth, which always makes the field of applications very competitive. We are pleased to award these scholarships and wish these students great success in this new chapter of their lives.”
