Parents who have been searching for a pediatrician for their child in Ashland now have a new choice: King’s Daughters Ashland Pediatrics.
Board-certified pediatrician Aaron McGuffin M.D., and nurse practitioner Laura Wells lead the practice. McGuffin earned his medical degree and completed his residency in internal medicine-pediatrics at Marshall University School of Medicine. Wells received her doctorate of nursing practice from the University of Kentucky. Together, they have more than 15 years of pediatric experience.
“One thing we are really excited about being able to offer is walk in appointments,” McGuffin said. “Parents can bring their child to the office to be seen without an appointment any time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.” This is especially beneficial to working parents and when kids take ill unexpectedly or their symptoms worsen quickly.
The practice specializes in diagnosing and treating childhood illnesses from minor health problems to serious diseases, from birth to adulthood. Services include:
- Physical exams and well-child visits
- Vaccinations/immunizations
- Ensuring children meet milestones in growth, behavior, and skills
- Treating illnesses, infections, injuries, and other health problems
- Teaching parents about child health, safety, nutrition, and fitness needs
- Answering questions about child growth and development
- Referral to specialists if necessary
King’s Daughters Ashland Pediatrics is located in Suite 135 of the Medical Arts Building, 2301 Lexington Ave., across from the emergency department at KDMC. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. New patients are welcome. To schedule an appointment, please call (606) 408-8400.
McGuffin and Wells are on staff at KDMC and will see hospitalized children at the medical center.
