Stop for Life tobacco cessation classes begin soon! Choose a class that works for you:
- 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9
- 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10
Classes continue each Monday and Tuesday for 12 weeks at King’s Daughters Health Education Center, lower level of Lexington Avenue parking garage. Stop for Life has helped people throughout the region break their addiction to tobacco products. This support group is free, and meets for one hour each week. Additionally, each participant has a lifetime membership for times they need additional support or remain tobacco free.
Cornerstones of this highly successful program are:
- Behavior modification
- Group support
- Conducted by a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist
Quitting tobacco products and/or smoking improves health and reduces risk of heart disease, cancer, lung disease and other smoking-related illnesses.
Tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of death and disease in the U.S. Cigarette smoking kills more than 480,000 Americans each year, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
