KDMC and OLBH host free colon cancer awareness event this Friday

March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and King’s Daughters Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital are raising awareness with an event from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. this Friday at Ashland Town Center. Friday is Wear Blue Day in support of Colorectal Cancer Awareness.
Visitors of all ages can learn how to prevent Kentucky’s second leading cause of cancer deaths while taking an educational walk through a 20-foot long, 10-foot tall replica of the human colon.
The event will also feature free health screenings, including blood pressure, pulse, heart rate, oxygen saturation, bone density, glaucoma, lipid profile, hemoglobin and DermaScan.
The free is event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Ashland-Boyd County Health Department, Community Hospice, Greenup and Lawrence County Health Departments, the Kentucky Cancer Program, King’s Daughters Medical Center and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital.
