The earlier in life people learn about keeping their hearts healthy, the better!
With that in mind, King’s Daughters Health Foundation is excited to bring MEGA Heart XL back to Ashland Town Center, Feb. 23-28.
MEGA Heart is a large-scale, interactive, education model of the human heart designed to help teach people about the risks, symptoms, nature and causes of heart disease. It was designed with the assistance of board-certified medical professionals to ensure the accuracy of the exhibit and information conveyed.
“We especially want kids to have the opportunity to tour the heart and learn what they can do right now to reduce their risk of developing heart disease later in life,” said Leslee McLeod, Health Foundation executive director. Eighth-grade classes from around the region are being invited to tour MEGA Heart and complete special activities designed to increase heart awareness.
MEGA Heart will be open for public tours from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Tours are conducted by specially trained MEGA Heart guides.
In addition, members of the King’s Daughters team will be on hand throughout the exhibition to answer questions and discuss heart disease prevention, detection and treatment. For more information, please contact Laura Patrick, Kentucky Heart Foundation at (606) 408-1727.
